Terms of Service
§1 Agreement to Terms
By installing SlackXO into a Slack workspace, or by accessing the SlackXO dashboard, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you're agreeing on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization.
§2 What SlackXO Does
SlackXO connects to a Slack workspace via Slack's official API to back up channel messages, threads, and files that the SlackXO app has been granted access to. Backups run on a schedule and are stored either on SlackXO's hosted infrastructure (Hosted plan) or on infrastructure you control (Self-Hosted plan).
SlackXO uses Slack's standard Web API. It does not use Slack's Discovery API and does not capture content the app has not been added to, or content deleted from Slack prior to the app's first backup of it.
§3 Accounts and Access
You're responsible for maintaining the security of your SlackXO account and any credentials used to access it. You're responsible for the accuracy of the Slack workspace permissions granted to the SlackXO app, and for inviting the app into any channels you intend to have archived.
§4 Subscriptions and Billing (Hosted Plan)
- Hosted plan subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annual, as selected) through our payment processor.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled.
- You may cancel at any time; access continues through the end of the current billing period.
- No refunds for already-billed periods. Canceling stops future charges — you keep access through the end of the period you already paid for.
§5 Self-Hosted License
The Self-Hosted plan is licensed, not sold, for a one-time fee as described at the time of purchase. The license grants you the right to run the software on your own infrastructure. Specific terms — number of workspaces covered, update and support entitlement period, and transferability — are set out in the agreement for your individual engagement, since Self-Hosted pricing and scope are negotiated per customer.
§6 Your Data
You retain ownership of all Slack content archived through SlackXO. We access and store this content solely to provide the archiving, search, hold, and restore functionality described in our product. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling.
§7 Litigation Holds and Compliance Use
SlackXO provides tools — litigation holds, retention controls, and a tamper-evident audit log — to support compliance and legal-hold workflows. SlackXO is a tool, not a substitute for legal advice or a certified e-discovery platform. You're responsible for determining whether SlackXO's capabilities meet your organization's specific legal, regulatory, or litigation-hold obligations.
§8 Acceptable Use
You agree not to use SlackXO to violate any law, to archive or restore content you don't have the right to access, or to circumvent Slack's own Terms of Service or API usage policies.
§9 Disclaimer of Warranties
SlackXO is provided on a best-effort, "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that every message, file, or edit will be captured, backed up, or restored without error or loss. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
§10 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, STAR LLC and SlackXO will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or business, arising out of or related to your use of the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
§11 Termination
You may stop using SlackXO and uninstall it from your Slack workspace at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these terms. Upon cancellation, your archived data remains accessible for export for 90 days, after which it is permanently deleted.
§12 Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email. Continued use of SlackXO after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
